From the President:

AILACTE E-news: July, 2010

Dear Colleagues,

Much is happening at the national, state and local level in our profession throughout the summer, but I hope that you will have opportunity during this season to reenergize and reconnect with family and friends.

It is with great joy yet great sadness that I announce our outstanding, longtime executive assistant, Stacy Ernst, has accepted a position with the University of Minnesota, where she will be coordinating Professional Development Schools and strengthening school-university partnerships. My joy for Stacy is not only for her beginning this new, exciting position but also for completing her doctoral studies in Curriculum and Instruction. Knowing how much she has helped our organization over the years, I am certain she will soon be as indispensible to the university as she has been to us.

My sadness is that we will be losing Stacy from our organization. However, even someone as capable as Stacy cannot take on a full-time position and continue as our executive assistant. As a result, we will have to say goodbye to Stacy at the end of this summer.

Stacy has served us all so well, from arranging every detail of our annual meeting accommodations to welcoming each member as they approach the registration desk. She has worked creatively and meticulously to keep us all informed. I will miss her knowledge, efficiency, and thoughtfulness.

So please join me in congratulating and thanking Stacy for her wonderful eight years of service to AILACTE. We wish the very best to her and her family as she enters this next phase of life.

May I also remind you that the Models of Excellence application deadline is October 1, 2010. Perhaps now is a good time to tell us your program’s story?

Sincerely,
Jill Lederhouse
