of Excellence Awardees
Applicants reviewed and awardee selected
each year at the AILACTE Annual meeting:
- Seattle Pacific
Universitys teacher education program has been named the
recipient of the Association of Independent Liberal Arts College
of Teacher Educations (AILACTE) 2008 Models of Excellence
Award for Quality II: Partnerships. Congratulations!
- Berry College's Charter
School of Education and Human Sciences in Rome, Georgia will receive
the 2007 Models of Excellence Award for Quality IV: Global Awareness
and Action. Congratulations Berry!
- Maryville University-
St. Louis' School of Education in St.Louis,
Missouri will be awarded the 2006 Model of Excellence Award winner
for the Quality Partnerships. Maryville University's sustained work
in the area of partnerships has influenced the national, regional
and local dialogue concerning the potential of partnerships between
PK-12 schools and teacher and administrator education programs.

- Union
University's School of Education in Jackson, Tennessee was AILACTE'S
2005 Model of Excellence Award winner for Quality 1: Moral and Ethical
Dimensions of the Learning Community. The integration of moral and
ethical dimensions of learning is strongly evident in the knowledge
base, assessment system and field components of the Teacher Education
program. Congratulations Union University!
- Wheaton College's
Teacher Education Program will be awarded the 2004 Model of Excellence
Award during AILACTE's Annual Meeting in Chicago, Illinois on February
7, 2004. Wheaton College earned the award through application demonstrating
excellence in the area of Quality III: Liberal Arts. Congratulations!
- Hamline University
and University of Portland were
awarded 2003 Models of Excellence Awards during AILACTE's Annual
meeting and forum in New Orleans, Louisiana on February 24, 2003.
Steve Jongewaard, Dwight Watson, Therese Kiley, and LeNore Kinney
accepted the award for Hamline faculty. Maria Ciriello, Pam Curtiss,
Karen Eifler, Kevin Fuller, Syd Steinbock and Arlene Hett accepted
the award on behalf of University of Portland faculty.
- Congratulations to the University
of Indianapolis awarded 2002 Models of Excellence Award! University
of Indianapolis was awarded a Models of Excellence Award in Quality
III: Liberal Arts, at the AILACTE Extended Annual Meeting Business
Meeting in New York on February 23, 2002. Lynn Weisenbach and James
Pennell accepted the award for UI.
- Asbury College
was awarded the first Models of Excellence Award in Quality I: Moral
and Ethical Dimensions of the Learning Community, at the AILACTE
Extended Annual Meeting Business Meeting in Dallas, TX on March
1, 2001. Verna Lowe and Bonnie Banker accepted the award on behalf
of the Asbury faculty.
