Top Five Reasons to Apply for an MOE Award

Contributed by Current President, Lynne Weisenbach

5.    The application process is healthy and can be used as a way to engage faculty from across the campus in discussions about teacher education.

4.    The process (and the award!) can be a morale booster for faculty.  It allows you to celebrate your accomplishments in a tangible way.

3.    The award is very classy.  It looks great on a bare wall!!!  J

2.    You can use the fact that you’ve received an award that is peer-reviewed as a recruitment tool.  (e.g., “We were named a Model of Excellence by the Association of Independent Liberal Arts Colleges of Teacher Education”.)

1.    The application process gives you an opportunity to reflect your commitment to the larger issues in teacher preparation.  In other words, while discussion about standards is healthy, the discussions which will be part of the MOE process will move you beyond standards to the larger issues of commitment around excellence in teacher preparation.
