Diversity and Inclusion Change Agent Award

 
AILACTE is pleased to announce the AILACTE Diversity and Inclusion Change Agent Award for 2019-2020. The award will be presented to a faculty member from an AILACTE institution who has been engaged in significant ways in the advancement of diversity, equity, and inclusion in the preparation of teacher candidates through teaching, service, and/or research.  The awardee(s) will be invited to share their work in a presentation at the annual conference, and if applicable, submit a manuscript to the AILACTE  journal or ​Views and News.

Recipient(s) of this award will receive a $500 stipend and free registration at the annual conference. The award is intended to enhance the professional development of the recipient and can be used for professional travel, support for professional work or other appropriate expenses. Again, we particularly seek individuals who are making a difference and positively impacting diversity and inclusion in the field of education. 

For the purposes of this award, diversity and inclusion encompass the range of human differences, including but not limited to race, ethnicity, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, social class, physical ability or attributes, religious or ethical values system, national origin, and political beliefs.


Qualifications:​ Applicants must:
● Hold a regular faculty appointment at an AILACTE member institution;  
● Demonstrate on-going efforts to advance diversity, equity, and inclusion in their respective teacher education programs or within the field of education.  
● Be willing to present a summary of the project in the AILACTE publication: ​Views & News
 
Application Process: ​Applicant​s need to submit the following information:

1. Email Award Committee Chair (contact information below) to indicate intent to submit application.

2. A statement regarding how the applicant ​has been engaged in significant ways in the advancement of diversity, equity, and inclusion in the preparation of teacher candidates

through teaching, service, and/or research​ (no more than 1000 words). Statement should be submitted in PDF format.

(a) Briefly describe the initiative
(b) Summarize the results, impact, and sustainability of the initiative


3. Tw​o professional letters of support including at least one from a dean, department chair, school partner, or other appropriate supervisor. Letters should be submitted in PDF format. 

4. A current curriculum vitae.  Curriculum vitae should be submitted in PDF format.
