AILACTE is pleased to announce the AILACTE Diversity and Inclusion Change Agent Award. The award will be presented to a faculty member from an AILACTE institution who has been engaged in significant ways in the advancement of diversity, equity, and inclusion in the preparation of teacher candidates through teaching, service, and/or research.
For the purposes of this award, diversity and inclusion encompass the range of human differences, including but not limited to race, ethnicity, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, social class, physical ability or attributes, religious or ethical values system, national origin, and political beliefs.
Recipient(s) of this award will receive a $250 stipend and one free registration at the annual conference. The award is intended to enhance the professional development of the recipient and can be used for professional travel, support for professional work or other appropriate expenses. Again, we particularly seek individuals who are making a difference and positively impacting diversity and inclusion in the field of education.
The recipient will be asked to submit a statement that briefly describes the initiative which will be shared at the annual conference. The award recipient is invited to attend the AILACTE Annual Meeting.

Qualifications:
Applicants must:
- hold a regular faculty appointment at an AILACTE member institution;
- demonstrate on-going efforts to advance diversity, equity, and inclusion in their
- respective teacher education programs or within the field of education.
- be willing to present a summary of the project in the AILACTE publication: Views & News;
Application Process:
Applicants need to submit the following information:
- 1. A statement regarding how the applicant has been engaged in significant ways in the advancement of diversity, equity, and inclusion in the preparation of teacher candidates through teaching, service, and/or research. Statements should be submitted in PDF format.
- (a) Briefly describe the initiative
- (b) Explain the initiative’s history/background
- (c) Explain how or why the initiative is innovative and/or supports the needs of the participants involved
- (d) Connects to AILACTE Mission Statement
- (e) Connects to current research/Literature Review
- (f) Summarize the results, accomplishments, impact, and sustainability
- (g) Provide any additional documentation for support such as program website, fliers, handouts, etc..
- 2. Two professional letters of support including at least one from a dean, department chair, school partner, or other appropriate supervisor and the other from a colleague specifically addressing the significance of the partnership. Letters should indicate they know the program and the impact it is having on the teaching and learning community. Letters should be submitted in PDF format.
Applications will be submitted to www.ailacte.org by May 15th.
