Editorial Review Board Qualifications
- Selected based on their interests, experience, and expertise.
- Hold a doctorate in an area related to teacher education.
- Have experience teaching in an independent liberal arts teacher education program.
- Have experience producing, using, and/or reviewing high-quality professional literature and research.
Editorial Review Board Responsibilities
- Uphold the confidentiality and integrity of the review process and do not discuss manuscripts with anyone other than the editors.
- Participate in meetings and training sessions as needed to provide input to the editors on various topics and learn the review process expectations.
- Conduct thorough and constructive reviews of submitted manuscripts that are objective, fair, and free of bias.
- Provide timely and detailed feedback to authors and the editorial team offfering constructive suggestions and critiques to help authors understand publication decisions and improve their work.
- Serve indefinitely provided their reviews are appropriate, timely, and helpful to authors, and they adhere to confidentiality requirements.

Editor Qualifications and Responsibilities
Editor Qualifications
- Hold a doctorate in an area related to teacher education.
- Have experience producing, using, and/or reviewing high-quality professional literature and research.
- Have experience teaching in a teacher education program at an independent liberal arts institution.
- Have served on the AILACTE Journal Editorial Review Board for at least two years.
- Served as assistant editors or guest editors.
- Served on the AILACTE Journal Editorial Review Board for at least two years.
Editor Responsibilities
- Prepare the Call for Manuscripts.
- Monitor and update the AILACTE Journal webpages annually.
- Solicit members for the Journal Editorial Review Board as needed.
- Conduct training sessions as needed.
- Conduct initial manuscript screenings to ensure basic requirements are met.
- Ensure that manuscripts are anonymized to protect the objectivity of reviews.
- Match manuscripts to reviewers based on their expertise, experience, interests, and geographic location.
- Send manuscripts to appropriate members of the Journal Editorial Review Board.
- Track manuscripts as they are reviewed and manage the completion of reviews.
- Aggregate scores and comments from reviewers.
- Make decisions on which manuscripts to publish.
- Prepare feedback for all authors.
- Inform authors about publication decisions and share feedback; some authors may be asked to make modifications before publication.
- Copyedit the manuscripts.
- Prepare the Foreword, Table of Contents, and other components of the Journal.
- Ensure the completion of the Journal’s graphic design.
- Proofread the final galley prints.
- Post the Journal on the AILACTE website and distribute it to authors and the Board.
- Prepare and present an annual report to the AILACTE Board.
- Editors and Assistant Editors serve indefinitely, provided their work is thorough, accurate, professional, timely, and of high quality.
